Editor, writer, producer and director, Dan McMellen, got into the business early, always wanting to be a filmmaker. After studying at the University at Kansas, he would move out to Los Angeles to follow his filmmaking dreams. His first stop: working for Robert Altman’s editor, as an assistant.
Since those early days in show business, Dan has worked tirelessly throughout his career to become the successful editor that he is today. His resume includes major network shows like Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Nashville, Supernanny, Make me a Supermodel, and more.
Dan is presently the Supervising Development Producer/Editor at Endemol USA (they produce Big Brother, Deal or No Deal, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Fear Factor, Hell on Wheels and Wipeout…to name a few).
Everyone in Hollywood has that passion project that they sunk everything into, and Dan is no different. He produced, wrote, and directed the successful feature film, Noble Things. The feature length, drama stars Ryan Hurst (Sons of Anarchy), country singer Lee Ann Womack, Michael Parks (TUSK, Red State and Argo), Dominique Swain (Lolita) and newcomer Brett Moses. While continuously working, he - and his wife, producer Julie Berke - also created a very precocious four-year-old named Henry. Julie and Dan have recently launched their own production company called, TenKan Media. Together they produce and create their own brand of reality TV shows, music videos, documentaries, scripted television, online web-series' and in the spring of 2015, Dan’s next feature film, Mason.
